Positioning & brand architecture

We distil complex brand ecosystems into a clear core, developing a system that people can understand, remember, and apply.

Effective positioning needs to be memorable. While workshops often generate many valid concepts, values, and perspectives, our role is to organise, evaluate, distil, and identify the core essence that truly defines the brand. From this, we develop a clear narrative and, where appropriate, a powerful image or principle that embeds the strategy in everyday operations. For more complex brand ecosystems, we also clarify the roles of the umbrella brand, individual companies, offerings, and products.

  • Your brand has grown, resulting in too many simultaneous messages, values, or offerings.
  • Different business units or brands need a common direction without losing their individuality.
  • New products, companies or acquisitions must be integrated meaningfully into the existing brand landscape.
  • Internally, there are differing ideas about what the brand truly represents.
  • Strategy, communication and design require a shared frame of reference.
  • Clarifying complex product landscapes

The outcome provides lasting clarity. This includes clear positioning, understandable roles for brands and offerings, and a narrative that employees can genuinely use. Ideally, this culminates in an image or principle, such as the PAULY compass: a strategic concept that serves as both a memorable anchor and a decision-making tool.

  1. 01 How do we distil many valid statements into positioning that is both relevant and memorable?
  2. 02 What role should each brand, offering, and company play within the overall portfolio?
  3. 03 How do we translate strategy into a narrative or principle that also supports communication and design?
The PAULY GROUP team shows us what the four values of their inner compass mean to them.
